Zephyr - OOAK CM Stormwatch

Project Stormwatch [Completed!]

After almost a year in the making since the idea was conceived, I am finally finished with this project. Sarah Minkiewicz's wildly popular resin Stormwatch was transformed into a tame lesson mount, fondly nicknamed "Zephyr". Zephyr is the ultimate alter ego of his brother Stormwatch, although he does still have a gleam in his eye and a tendency towards being naughty. I could not resist completing this picture with some help from some of the hobby's best talents to create the ultimate performance package. A beautiful sculpture to begin with, I wanted to make mine exceptional and present an unforgettable piece.

Lets start at the beginning. In order to make this work, I had to completely remove the mass of mane, tail and feathers from this horse. This also entailed recreating fetlocks, hooves, buttocks and flanks, and the better part of a leg, neck and new ears. I then gave him an Appy appropriate tail, and decided to give him that child friendly look... braids with ribbons. What says kid horse more then that? : )

To complete the picture of a slightly cranky, older horse, I knew his color had to be just right. An appaloosa would be the only color to totally suit him! I spent hours blending, pasteling, and hand painting his coat to be a soft, multi-layered look in keeping with growth patterns which are suitable for realistic Appaloosa coat patterning. And of course, in his individually hand painted hair mane and tail the ribbons just had to be red.(Also, a red ribbon in the tail signifies a horse that is likely to kick if you get to close: ) I used many techniques to get his coat color right, and I believe he turned out beautifully. Even his ribbons have many layers and colors to get just the right look of silk

I then looked outside my realm to find completion for the other part of my vision. I wanted this to be an unforgettable performance package. I found Jennifer Buxton, who created exactly what I dreamed up in miniature tack.. the ideal schooling/camp get up for this cranky lesson horse! This awesome English tack set sports rainbow reins and safety stirrups, as well as a saddle that you would never know was miniature unless I told you, and a perfect full cheek snaffle bridle with all the keepers. With a head up in the air like he has, I knew a martingale would have to be used, so that was thrown into the mix as well. All said, it was a custom job just for Zephyr.

As far as a doll, I wanted a girl with slightly oversized clothing with hand me down look. I did not want the typical English perfect show jacket and such, she had to be different. She should look like a child at a schooling show. When I found this doll by Joan Yount, I was thrilled. She fits the bill just right; even her colors are just what I wanted. This set has a harmonious look to it, but it also retains that schooling feel. Not an A rated show, by any means!

I was thrilled when I found the final touch, a Champion ribbon by Carrie Sloan. I think it says it all, and may it be the first of many for this set.

This horse is the only one of it's kind, and it is sure to take the ring by storm...watch out or you may be facing that notorious tail with the red ribbon in it at a live show! There are so many details on this piece not shown in pictures. Offers are for the horse, rider and tack, and champion ribbon. I have to say, each accessory that goes with this package has been chosen carefully to reflect the highest standards of workmanship to be displayed with this piece. Together it is a force to be reckoned with! I will be accepting offers by private treaty. Please contact me to make an offer on Zephyr. Time payments accepted, limited partial trades for the right unpainted resin(s) only.Thank you for your interest, and to all that have commented on him!

"Cinnamon Girl"   SOLD

OOAK Traditional Revisited Ravenhill

Introducing "Cinnamon Girl" The highly sought out and coveted Traditional Ravenhill by Tumlinson/Hurley. This resin is hot and hard to find. This sculpture is just lovely, but true to my nature, I could not leave her alone. I decided to give her a longer mane and tail, and used pictures of foundation Quarter horses for length references. I also felt that he was a she, so there was a gender change to the sculpture as well. Last but not least, I decreased the size of her feet to be more true to the "teacup" reputation of the true QH. This resin is a true one of a kind, as there are no others out there like her.

Many of these beautiful sculptures have been painted into flashy appaloosas or paint horses. I am so smitten with the sculpture, that I felt an rich understated color would be more harmonious. When I think QH, I think sorrel. I wanted her to participate in the QH classes, as she is such a superb example of the breed I felt she would do well. Don't let her "simple" color fool you. She has many many layers and depth to her dappled red coat, with many subtleties that bring out the richness of the sorrel color. As nice as the pictures are, she has so much presence in person. The look on her face is sweet and maternal, and I think you will agree that she is one good looking QH.

I am taking offers on her until Sunday, Feb 21, unless I get an offer I cannot refuse. Please email me with any questions. Thanks for looking!

The Annihilator, Artist's Copy #1   SOLD

Volcan - The Annihilator, Artist's Copy #1.

This is the first resin that I have painted to actually reach out and bite me. Never before has there been such a mean looking, agitated resin! He reminds me of a statue of a war horse, or a Renaissance master's rendition of the draft of the times. I have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of this horse, and was surprised to find that, despite how incredible he looks in pictures, he is even better in person. I just did not think it was possible. Debbi LerMond has done it again!

This horse is destined to be a grail of grails, and is unlike any other resin on the market. He sold out insanely fast and will be very hard to come by, as there were only 30 copies offered for sale to the public. This is the Artist Copy number 1 of the edition, and the only one offered for sale in collaboration between the sculpting artist and painter. Be the first to own one of the hottest new resins on the market! If you are interested and would like to make an offer on him, or want more details on this piece, please inquire to either Debbi or myself. I cannot say how excited I am about him!

Traditional Sayyed al Hawah Arab Resin   SOLD

#1 Artist Choice - Sculptor: Debbi LerMond, Painter: Mindy Berg

On the day I received my Artist choice Sayyed, I had spent the morning watching my friend work her incredibly talented Lusitano stallion. This horse is, in my opinion, one of the nicest examples of a dressage horse in Vermont. It is absolute eye candy to watch this horse work the collected high school movements of the pirette and piaffe. When I returned home, my package from Debbi had arrived, and upon opening it I found a rival to that stallion at the barn inside that box. More...
