"Vega" is a brand new, original sculpture portraying a Puro Sangue Lusitano; the Baroque horse of unbelievable beauty and grace, in traditional Portuguese working presentation. Lusitanos have a recognizable roundness; a remarkable look and feel to them that set them apart from all the other Spanish/Baroque type breeds. My friend who breeds Lusitanos described them as “carved from one block, in circles” and that is just what I tried to convey. Smoothness and roundness, yet powerful and graceful; controlled and collected yet supple and responsive. In the native land of Portugal, the Lusitano was bred to be nimble enough for bullfighting, sensitive enough for dressage, and powerful enough to be a warhorse. They are indeed an incredible horse of nobility.

Named after one of the brightest stars in the sky, Vega was designed to shine. This horse looks excellent in traditional tack and is designed for performance. He is my first traditional sized piece, and measures 9 inches to the ear tips and toe to tail 10 inches, or roughly the same size as ISH.

Vega is hollow cast by Resins by Randy with wire reinforcements. The metal support rod in the front hoof will be replaced with clear acrylic, so your horse will be discretely cantering along~ no base to worry about. Randy's castings are superfine, and have very little prep work and retain the crispness of the original piece. Vega is a true limited edition; a one mold run, so when he is gone, thats it. 50 copies total are available to purchase in the edition with an additional 10 reserved for artist copies, and 5 for artist proof.
